Managing Director, Producer
Jean-Young Kwak first studied German language/literature, sociology and phonetics at the University of Cologne. During her studies, she has worked in various positions for radio, advertising, feature film and TV productions. In 2007 she graduated at the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg in Creative & International Producing.
Subsequently she worked as a producer for teamWorx Television & Film GmbH (today: UFA Fiction), Magic Flight Film GmbH and Wiedemann & Berg Television.
She has produced and supervised over twenty projects of various genres, including theatrical adaptations ("Woyzeck"), multi-part productions ("The Cold Sky") as well as the international documentary "Vatican – The Hidden World", which have been nominated and awarded for several television awards.
From 2016 until July 2022 Jean-Young Kwak has been working as a Commissioning Editor/ Executive for the scripted department of RTL Deutschland GmbH where she was responsible among others for RTL+ originals “Herzogpark” and “Even Closer- hautnah”.
Since August 2022, Jean-Young Kwak has been managing director of Amalia Film GmbH and has returned to work as a producer. Her responsibilities include the development and acquisition of new formats as well as – together with Felix von Poser – the strategic expansion of the company. AMALIA FILM GmbH produces high-quality theatrical films as well as major TV programs for linear and digital exploitation. As a subsidiary of the Studio Hamburg Production Group, it is based in Munich.
