Munich, 1900: When Curt Prank (Mišel Matičević), a big brewer from Franconia, takes it into his
head to expand to the Oktoberfest, the balance of power in the city begins to shake. As a
"foreigner," Prank is not allowed to acquire a liquor license at the Oktoberfest, let alone serve his
Franconian beer. By means of bribery and blackmail, Prank scammed five adjoining pub plots at
the Oktoberfest, which at the time could hold a maximum of 300 guests, in order to erect a
megalomaniac giant tent for six thousand guests. A presumptuous plan that pushes Munich's
small traditional breweries like the Hoflinger family's Deibel Bräu (Francis Fulton-Smith, Martina
Gedeck, Klaus Steinbacher, Markus Krojer) to the brink of existence and triggers a brutal
struggle for survival, at the end of which all sides suffer painful casualties.
